I think you may potentially have to time the barrel nut with shims on a standard M4 upper. Mine broke about half-way through the barrel install. I can't speak to the M-Lok slots, as I haven't used them yet, but everything else has been great - except for the barrel nut wrench that came with the receiver. It's definitely not my preference, but is easily manageable. The only real downside to it is the fact that it is slightly larger diameter. Our Gen 2 Enhanced Quad Rail (EQ) Handguards provide a lightweight free float design for your custom M5. Nearly gives it a monolithic look and function - obviously not quite as stable as the real thing, but not anywhere close to the cost. Handguards are NOT compatible with our M4E1 Enhanced Upper Receiver. Also really nice how there are no missing slots in the rail, right at the front of the receiver. The ATLAS R-ONE is the newest addition to the Aero Precision Handguard lineup. It makes fit-up so phenomenally easy that there's no point going any other direction. I wouldn't bother with anything besides one of Aero's enhanced uppers if you want that handguard. I really dig how the handguard has little extensions that hug the sides of the rail on the receiver.
